Welcome to the George & Dragon, a traditional English country pub nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Downe, near Bromley. We take pride our carefully selected choice of real ales and homemade seasonal food. We strive to keep the values of country pub alive by offering a homely and relaxing atmosphere whether you are having a warm glass of mulled wine by the log fire or a lazy lunch in our sunny beer garden.
Downe Village is famous for being the home to the English Naturalist Charles Darwin and his family. Downe House, now a museum, was where Darwin worked on his theories of evolution by natural selection, which he had conceived in London before moving to Downe. He loved living in the village, visiting the local pubs, shops and going on his many walks with nature. Come and take a look to find out why.
